Seven Wonders (under construction)
The Down Low
Seven wonders is my go to game for player counts 5-7. It is a great introductory game that still challenges veteran board gamers. The core mechanic is drafting. It is very easy to teach and the game is only medium length less than an hour.
Gibbs Score
Overall I give seven wonders a 9/10 because of how much enjoyment and time I've gotten out of this game. Just the base version is seriously good. I bought the expansions for leaders and cities but I really think the base is the only part necessary. Seven wonders just keeps coming back to my table.
Strategies
I think this game essentially comes down to drafting skill. If you are not familiar with drafting in general and if you would like to see more drafting strategies, I could provide a better guide.
Some basic strategies come like this. First generation, prioritize, money, resources, trades, or any card that gives you free cards later. Use your free abilities as much as possible. Watch the field for your opponents. There are three basic avenues for points which are blue, green, and red cards. One might say yellow is a strat but that is really dependent on the guilds cards in the third act. So... With red, green, and blue in mind, try to go a primary strategy and and secondary strategy together doing your best to know what your opponents are trying to take so that you can get no competition.
